Penn State University Boiler Asbestos Abatement & Demolition

Office of Physical Plant employees coordinating the removal of 50 year old boilers at Penn State's Power Plant. The existing boilers are being deconstructed and removed for the facility's transition to natural gas.

Plymouth Environmental is contracted by the Pennsylvania State University to aid in their pursuit of greater sustainability with their conversion to cleaner energy. Plymouth has completed the 2nd Phase of the project which included Asbestos Abatement and Boiler Demolition. By projects end, Plymouth will have successfully completed the Asbestos Abatement and Demolition of 3, four story coal stacked boilers and associated piping. The coal fired boilers will be replaced by two, new, high-capacity, natural gas-fired coilers which will reduce the plant’s total emissions by nearly 50 percent.
